Hawp - Little King's Story

This is the funniest video game parody I've seen in recent memory. Come to think of it, game mechanics defy logic & common senses more often than your Hollywood films.

p.s. I think I'm in love with Ash.

Ebert Review of Synecdoche, New York

"It is obvious that [Charlie Kaufman] has only one subject, the mind, and only one plot, how the mind negotiates with reality, fantasy, hallucination, desire and dreams."

Interview with Jonathan Houser, Creator of Hitchcock from Hand Held Hollywood

I'm busy writing feature scripts now, but next year, and hopefully with the next version of Hitchcock, I would love to take it for a spin around NYC for a short film I have in mind.

The Sexual Joys of Editing

…and other observations by Walter Murch  (Totally link bait, but it's Walter Murch! :D)

"There is a procreativity in film editing that does have some sexual elements to it––the mixing together of different ideas and the birth of a third idea that is not inherent in either of these single ideas themselves, but only through their juxtaposition... Being a film editor is like a real-life laboratory into human perception and emotion."

"There is a correspondence between the moment of the cut and the moment in life when we blink; it’s kind of our save-to-disc moment.  When we get an idea, we tend to blink; whether that’s the way we tabulate it so that we can recall it later, or whether we involuntary do it in the act of tabulating, I don’t know, but there is a correspondence between the choreography of our thoughts and the nature of our blinking."

"It’s the first time in human history that we have an art form that is capable of choreographing human thought.  The theater can approximate it, but you can’t get into the inner thoughts and beliefs of a character the way you can on the screen.  In a big close-up with a talented actor, you can see the thoughts moving across the actor’s face the way you can see clouds moving across the sky.  It’s a wonderful thing to behold." It is wonderful profession.

Hollywood's 4 Biggest Lies

Good read about so-called show business.
  1. Filmmaking is an Art
  2. The Film Industry is About Filmmaking.
  3. What the Budget Is.
  4. The Film Industry Makes Filmmaker Deals.
"You must first make-a-film to make-a-deal." Amen, brother.

Making of Fantastic Mr. Fox

You come to realize how precious a frame is among hundred thousands of frames that comprise a film, as an editor. The animation looks rough compare to fantastic "Caroline" earlier this year, but Director Wes Anderson & his star performers would be the main attraction here.

How to Make the Leap from Short Films to Features

How to Make the Leap from Short Films to Features

I'm trying 1 & 2, because making short films is great exercise & study in your directorial ability as well as your production capability before 'wasting money & time' for a feature effort.

Return of the Naked Son

I decided to move back to Blogger once again due to various technical (& political) reasons. Allow me few more days to dust up this place and make it more presentable for old & potential new audiences.

Happy "Chu-suk" to my Korean readers.
