I'm planning to purchase a PowerBook for my new editing system next month and I stumbled upon a surprising fact. According to Avid Xpress DV Pro Specifications, "Avid Xpress Pro 4.1.1 is required for Mac OS X 10.3.1 support (NOTE: 10.3.1 is supported on dual processor G4 and G5 systems only at this time.)" That takes out the entire line of PowerBook with Panther (MacOS 10.3) series until Avid patches it up. That means I will have to downgrade my spanky new PowerBook to Jaguar, previous version of Mac OS X (MacOS 10.2 if you are counting), in order to run the Avid programs. What else can a poor guy like me do? Stick with the program, for now. Now. That. Sucks.
